Enhanced Drilling delivers deepest RMR® on the NCS to date

Enhanced Drilling is maintaining its position as the leader in riserless mud recovery technology and services by delivering a major operator with the deepest RMR® job on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) to date.

RMR® has been successfully used on more than 220 wells since it was first deployed operationally in 2003. It will be used at 890m WD (2,920ft) on this project.

Enhanced Drilling's Vice President for Europe, Svein Egil Steen, said: "Although we have provided both RMR® and CTS for this customer before on the NCS, this latest contract for the deepest RMR® project to date in the area is a great testament to the technology, skills and knowledge that Enhanced Drilling possesses."

Experience

He added: "Since RMR® was first launched operationally in 2003, we've continuously developed the hardware, the services and the practices surrounding it. More than 11 years of operations on more than 220 safe and successful wells with RMR® means a great deal of experience and on-the-job know-how – I'm delighted that this major operator has recognised these factors and put its trust in our capabilities once again."

Safety enhancing

RMR® is a safety enhancing, innovative way of returning mud and cuttings to the rig before the drilling riser is run, without any discharge to the seabed. This means engineered, weighted drilling fluid can be used on the top-hole section. RMR® enables this vital section of a well to be drilled more safely, quickly and with less environmental impact.

CTS, meanwhile, enables operators to take cuttings, cement, mud, clay and other deposits away from the well area, keeping templates debris free. It has had a major impact on the validity of drilling operations in areas that have been deemed as being particularly environmentally sensitive. RMR® and CTS have together been deployed on more than 600 wells.

The four-year contract, which includes multi-year extension options, was effective from late November 2014 and will run until 2018.

As well as RMR® and CTS, Enhanced Drilling provides the EC-Drill® Managed Pressure Drilling system (used by Statoil on the Troll Field and in the Gulf of Mexico) and MPC Managed Pressure Cementing system.

Enhanced Drilling, which is headquartered just outside of Bergen, changed its name from AGR Enhanced Drilling in April last year. The move came following the legal
de-merger from AGR Group in 2013.
